In 1956, Laurence Rockefeller donated the land that now comprises the U.S. Virgin Islands National Park. Today the park covers most of St. John, as well as underwater coral reefs and Hassel Island, located off the coast of St. Thomas. Ruins of sugar plantations, mysterious petroglyphs and miles of gorgeous natural landscape make this park a fascinating destination. Camping and hiking are popular ways to take it all in.
